WHO I AM

Honesty, respect, and compassion

These principles form the foundation of my relationship
with each of my clients. I am a caring and highly effective
therapist with over 30 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I work with adolescent, adult, and senior women and men, both
straight and gay couples, and people of all races, religions, cultures, and sexual orientations. Most of my clients are intelligent, successful people who are
experiencing some trouble in their life or feel ready to move beyond some past
issue or limitation to create a more fulfilling life.

My greatest source of referrals is from people whom I have counseled that feel they
have benefited from our work together and recommend me to their family, friends,
and colleagues. I also receive many referrals from other psychotherapists, as well
as from other professionals in the community such as physicians, dentists, and
lawyers.

Education and credentials

I graduated from the National Catholic School of Social Service in 1975, with a
Masters Degree in Social Work. The Masters Degree in Social Work, or MSW,
allows one to provide mental health services to individuals, couples, families,
and groups. Clinical Social Workers are the largest providers of mental health
treatment in the United States. I am currently licensed as a clinical social worker
(LCSW) in the states of New Jersey, New York, and Maryland. The LCSW is the
highest level of licensure provided to social workers. I am also a Diplomate in
Clinical Social Work (DCSW) through The National Association of Social Workers
and a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (BCD) through the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work (ABECSC). Having the status of a
Diplomate, I have met the highest standards of requirements for advanced
clinical social work practice.

I am also a New Jersey Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and a
Certified Supervisor of Clinicians in New Jersey, New York, and Maryland. I have
trained students from New York University, as well as provided supervision for
other clinicians. I have also provided psychotherapy for several other
psychotherapists throughout the years. It is a high compliment to my skills as
a clinician that other psychotherapists would choose me as their personal psychotherapist.

Experience

I have been a psychotherapist since 1975 and have worked in a variety of
challenging mental health setting including the Baltimore City Department of Social Services Child Protective Services division where I received intensive training and experience working with victims and perpetrators of physical, emotional, and
sexual abuse and neglect.  I currently provide therapy to battered women and their
children through the Jersey  Battered Women's Service.

I am a clinical member of the Northern New Jersey Maternal Child Health Consortium's Post Partum Depression Taskforce and, am listed in their provider directory.

I served as a volunteer for the Morris County Red Cross emergency phone
response team following the 2001 disaster. Since that time, I have received
extensive Trauma/Disaster Mental Health Training through the New Jersey Division
of Mental Health Services and FEMA.  I am a certified Disaster Response Crisis Counselor who is on the Morris County Mental Health Emergency Call-up Roster
in the event of any future emergencies, which may require the assistance of
mental health response teams.

I have served as a consultant for a publishing company in Wilmington, Delaware,
where I helped to foster the development of personnel through bi-monthly groups
aimed to enhance communication, assertiveness, and problem solving skills. I
also worked with a colleague in development of a forum to defuse conflict between department heads, managers and peers at various levels of responsibility within
the company.

I have given workshops for companies on numerous topics such as “Preventing
Burnout” and “Balancing Demands of Work and Family”, and I was on a panel at a Women’s Health Forum where I made a presentation on “Women’s Mental Health”.
